Adventure Awaits

At Hillside Country Cabins, your stay is more than a place to rest. It’s a chance to explore the beauty around you, slow down, and create memories that stay with you long after you leave.

Things to Do

While you’re staying at Hillside Country Cabins, there’s plenty to enjoy both on-site and nearby. On-site, relax in the hot tub at select cabins, soak in the views, play outdoor games, or wrap up the day with a campfire and s’mores. Off-site, take a scenic drive to Crazy Horse Memorial, Mount Rushmore, Wind Cave National Park, and Jewel Cave National Monument, or spend the day at some of South Dakota’s best lakes like Sylvan Lake, Legion Lake, and Stockade Lake. Enjoy UTV trails and horseback riding, with Custer State Park just a short drive away. When you’re ready for a night out, head into Rapid City for restaurants, shops, and local bars.

On-Site Relaxation

Start your morning with the peaceful sounds of nature, then soak in your hot tub. Grill up an easy dinner, gather around the firepit for evening s’mores, and enjoy the simple moments—coffee at sunrise and stargazing after dark. Our outdoor spaces are made for comfort, connection, and slowing down.

Jewel Cave National Monument contains Jewel Cave, currently the third longest cave in the world. It has approximately 215 miles of mapped passageways. Much of Jewel cave is cvovered with spar crystals and the cave is known as a “breathing cave” which means air enters or exits the cave with changes in atmospheric pressure from day to night.

Sylvan Lake is a lake located in Custer State Park, in the Black Hills of South Dakota, United States. It was created in 1891 when Theodore Reder built a dam across Sunday Gulch Creek. The lake area offers picnic places, rock climbing, small rental boats, swimming, and hiking trails.

Established in 1903 the cave is known for having rich honeycomb-shaped calcite formations known as boxwork. The park’s prairie and pine forests are home to bison, elk and pronghorn antelopes. Trails include Rankin Ridge, with views of the Black Hills.

Mount Rushmore is a colossal sculpture carved into the granite. The sculpture features 60-foot-tall heads of four United states presidents. The park covers 1,278 acres and has an actual elevation of 5,725 feet.

Custer State Park is South Dakota’s largest and first state park. The park covers over 71,000 acres of varied terrain. It offers unparalleled geologic and natural history, beautiful mountains, caves, forest and wildernesses, lakes and scenic byways. The park is home to thousands of bison, elk, mountain goats and natural wildlife.
